General Rules:-
- All the members must show their identity cards at the checkpoint while entering the library.
- All bags and personal belongings must be left at the property counter in the library.
- Members should not keep their money, ornaments, mobile or any other valuable item at the property counter. In case they do so, it will be entirely at their own risk.
- The members shall carry only essential stationery items inside the library. All the members must switch off their mobile phones inside the library.
- Library Ticket is not transferable, as it is a token of privilege for the member to whom it is issued.
- Sub lending of books is a misuse of this privilege and may result in the withdrawal of library membership.
- Members should get their books/documents checked at the checkpoint while leaving the library.
- Books should not be kept beyond the date marked on the due date.
- Members are urged to use library material and services conscientiously and with a sense of due consideration for others.
- Books on loan with students can be recalled by the Librarian at any time without assigning any reason thereof.
- The loan of books is not renewable on the very same day.
- Users should check the condition of the book before borrowing it.
In Case of:-
- Loss Of Card:
The loss of a library card should be immediately reported in the prescribed form available at the library circulation counter. Any loss that the library may incur on account of the loss of a library Reader’s card will be the entire responsibility of the owner of the card.
The duplicate card will be issued on the 1st & 15th of every month and in case of holidays on the next working day.
- Loss of Books:-
(A) The loss of books must immediately be reported in writing to the librarian. The members must replace the lost books within 15 days from the date of loss of books reported. In case the book(s) is /are of the volumes of the set the entire set has to be replaced.
(B) In case of loss of a book which is out of print the member shall bring the relevant certificate from the distributors/ Booksellers if the publisher is local and then from the publishers about the non-availability of the book.
Reminders:-
If a member does not return the book after three reminders. The matter may be referred to the Principal. The membership will be cancelled and/or disciplinary action will be taken against that user.
No Dues Certificate:-
A no dues certificate will be signed by the librarian, on the prescribed form obtained from the office at the time of leaving the college.
Breach of library rules:
As the college library is a place of individual study it is necessary to maintain an atmosphere of quiet and dignity inside the library. Talking and smoking are strictly prohibited in the library. A student whose act is considered undesirable by the librarian may be refused admission into the library.
Care of Books:
Library books are costly and often rare. They should be used and handled with care. Members shall not write upon, damage, tear down the leaves of or make a mark upon any book. Before leaving the circulation counter the member must satisfy themselves whether the book lent to her is in the sound condition. If not user shall immediately bring the matter to the notice of the librarian or his deputy in his absence. Otherwise, members themselves shall be held responsible for any damage noticed/reported later or at the time of returning the books. A member shall be responsible for any loss or damage to the book or other document belonging to the library while under their use and shall be required to replace such books or documents. Penalty for books lost, damaged, mutilated or defaced by marking shall be fixed by the librarian.
Change of Address:
Any change in residential address/contact No. of any member may please be intimated in writing to the librarian
Library Best Practices:-
College library maintains a database of e-mail addresses of its users for sending the following information to its users from time to time. College library uses the following 'Best Practices like:-
- Library notices.
- Reminders for overdue books.
- Copy of the University syllabus.
- List of new arrival books
- List of Journals/Magazines and Newspapers.
- Link for previous years’ question papers of University examination, as well as for papers downloaded from the University website.
- E-mail alerts.
- Information regarding information literacy programmes of the Library.
- Information regarding the availability of e-resources and how to access them.
Opening Hours
- The library remains open on all working days except Saturdays, Sundays and University notified holidays.
- The opening hours of the Library are from 8.00 AM to 5.00 PM
- All Library services are provided from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM
- Lunch break is observed from 12.30 PM to 1.00 PM for all services except reading and circulation services.
Use of the Library and Library Materials
- Members must show their Library Card on entering the Library while borrowing books and journals at any time if asked to do so by the Library Staff.
- Briefcases, bags, umbrellas, lunch boxes and other personal belongings must be deposited at the entrance.
- Every member must sign the register available at the entrance. Personal reading materials must be specifically indicated in the register and shown to the security guard while entering and exiting from the Library.
- Members are free to browse through the books. Books taken out of the shelves must be put on a table. Replacing the books on shelves is not encouraged as they may be misplaced. A misplaced book is a lost book.
- A Non-member can use the library material on the premises with the permission of the Librarian/Principal.
- Readers should not mark, underline, dog-ear mark, write, tear pages or damages the Library documents.
- Strict silence, decorum and discipline must be maintained in the Library
- Member should behave in a reasonable and seemly fashion in the Library and must not damage library property or disturb other members.
- Smoking, eating, sleeping and talking loudly are strictly prohibited in the Library.
- Members should not reserve seats either for themselves or for others.
- Newspapers and magazines must be read-only in the Library on specific tables and should not be taken to any other reading areas.
No Library material can be taken out of the library without permission.
