The Department of Environmental Sciences in Swami Shraddhanand College, was established after the introduction of Choice Based Credit System in 2015-16. The Department has three permanent faculty members, Dr. Abhishek Chandra, Dr. Neetu Sharma, and Mr. Rohit Kumar Choudhary. All the faculty members have good experience in teaching and research. After implementation of NEP, the department is offering other environmental science papers under GE, SEC and VAC. The subject “Environmental Science: Theory into Practice” aims to develop critical thinking for shaping strategies (scientific, social, economic, administrative, and legal) for environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, environmental equity, and sustainable development. Besides imparting knowledge to students, this subject develops moral and ethical values among them, which will further help in cultivating a positive attitude towards environmental resources with active participation in solving current environmental problems and preventing future ones. Environmental skills are essential for providing significant solutions to different environmental problems. This subject will help to encourage the students to move towards eco-friendly activities. Students are also offered internship opportunities within the department and the department also promotes field-based research, participation in conferences, workshops and seminars.
